By following these tips, you can create a memorable and effective branded hashtag that sets your brand apart from the rest.

Social media has become a crucial part of any successful marketing strategy, and creating your own branded hashtags can help you stand out in the crowded online world. Branded hashtags allow you to group your content and make it easier for your audience to find and engage with your posts. In this blog post, we’ll show you how to create your own branded hashtags on social media.

Keep it simple and memorable

Your branded hashtag should be easy to remember and easy to spell. Keep it short and sweet so that people can easily remember it and include it in their own posts. Avoid using numbers, special characters, or acronyms as it can confuse people and make it difficult for them to remember. Additionally, sometimes special characters can disrupt the hashtag flow and cause the hashtag phrase to suspend prematurely.

Another factor to consider? Hashtags are often and viewed used in all lowercase. Thus,  make sure it’s still easy to read with capital letters. For example, back in 2012 when Susan Boyle was releasing her new album “Standing Ovation”, she hosted a party to launch it.

In the producers’ haste to promote the event, they posted a hashtag (#susanalbumparty) that unfortunately could be misread into a VERY different kind of party. They quickly deleted the tweet, but not after having it retweeted multiple times and seeing it become one of the top trending topics on Twitter.

Research your hashtag

Before you start using your branded hashtag, do some research to see if it has been used before. You want to avoid using a hashtag that is already associated with something else, especially if it is negative or inappropriate.

Use social media platforms’ search functions to find out if anyone has already used the hashtag you’re thinking of using. Is the hashtag you want to use already taken? Consider ways to tweak it to make it distinct from other similar ones.

Make it unique

Your branded hashtag should be unique to your brand and not used by others. It should reflect your brand’s personality, values, and message. Use your brand’s name, slogan, or a memorable phrase to create a unique hashtag.

Hashtags comprised of a “play on words” are also great. For example, Lays Chips did a campaign with the hashtag “#DoUsAFlavor” which tied into their brand.

Use it consistently

Once you have created your branded hashtag, use it consistently across all your social media channels. This will help people associate the hashtag with your brand and make it easier for them to find your content. Encourage your followers to use your branded hashtag when they share their own content related to your brand.

Promote it

Promote your branded hashtag on your website, social media profiles, email signature, and any other marketing materials. Use it in your social media bios, posts, and stories to increase visibility. You can also collaborate with influencers or run social media contests to encourage people to use your branded hashtag.

Measure its success

Track the performance of your branded hashtag by using social media analytics tools. Analyze how often it has been used, who is using it, and how engaged they are with your content. Use this information to make adjustments and improve your hashtag strategy.

Creating your own branded hashtag can be a powerful way to increase brand awareness, engage with your audience, and grow your social media presence. By following these tips, you can create a memorable and effective branded hashtag that sets your brand apart from the rest.
